UK: 3 Year EPSRC PhD Studentship

Applications are invited for an EPSRC studentship in the School of
Informatics, City University London.  The School of Informatics
undertakes world-class research in areas that include human-computer
interaction, software and requirements engineering, artificial
intelligence, geographic information systems, information retrieval,
medical informatics, dependability and security.

The School is inviting applications for a full-time, three year PhD
studentship to start in either October 2009 or February 2010. Applications
are welcomed from candidates wishing to undertake research in any of the
above areas. The successful applicant will receive a bursary for each year
of the studentship (13,200 pounds in 2009-2010), in addition to payment of
the tuition fees. Successful candidates will usually be expected to
undertake some teaching support, by agreement with the School.

Candidates must have at least a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent in a
relevant subject and be able to demonstrate a relevant connection with the
UK (usually established by being ordinarily resident for a period of 3
years immediately prior to the date of application).

* abstract
* clearly set out research objectives
* the methodology to be used in the research
* a brief review of relevant research literature and an indication of
what the proposed research would contribute
* why you wish to pursue the topic and what you will bring to it
