Research Assistantship in Computer Science

Applications are invited for the position of research assistant in the
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (, CSD,
University of Geneva. The successful candidate will participate in a
large-scale European FP7 research project aimed at monitoring and
ensuring patient safety in hospitals. In particular, s/he will
investigate probabilistic learning from complex temporal data in the
presence of uncertainty. Related issues are data mining from multiple
and possibly multimedia (structured or text) sources. Research on these
issues should support development of software modules to be integrated
into an ICT platform for knowledge discovery and management in
hospitals. Further information on the project can be found on Gross starting salary will be around 4400-5000
CHF/month (1 CHF = 0.65 EUR), depending on qualifications.

Candidates should have at least a Master’s degree in Computer Science.
They should have excellent programming skills as well as communication
skills in English (and ideally in French). A solid background in machine
learning/data mining, substantiated by a Master’s thesis or
peer-reviewed publications in the field, is mandatory. A strong academic
record, excellent analytical skills and a clear aptitude for autonomous,
creative research will be priority selection criteria. The selected
candidate who so wishes will have the possibility of pursuing a PhD
degree on a topic relevant to the project.
