At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Centre for Embedded Software Systems (CISS), several positions as Ph.D. fellow (positions no. 562/06-CISS-26811) are open for appointment from 01.08.2006.

Job description:
Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering.
The
PhD stipends are available within the general study programmes
“Electrical and Electronic Engineering” and “Computer Science and
Engineering”. The PhD stipends are available within the border areas
between electrical/electronic engineering, control theory and computer
science constituted by embedded system analysis and design. The
stipends are funded by special grants from The Ministry of Science,
Technology and Innovation and The Danish Agency for Science, Technology
and Innovation.
Research in CISS is conducted in cooperation with
a number of industrial partners as well as related international
research institutions in the area. Research areas include: model based
test and verification, scheduling and performance evaluation, network
analysis, control systems as well as safety critical systems and
reliability modelling.
Research within CISS is pursued in 3
directions: application, theory and methodology as well as
technological platforms. Within the landscape spanned by the above
directions a number of cornerstones/clusters are defined on the basis
of industrial and academic interests: Safety Critical Systems,
platforms for embedded systems (OS, design tools and programming
languages), intelligent sensors and sensor networks, HW/SW codesign and
Modelbased Development and Validation of software in embedded systems.
PhD
studies should have both academic and industrial relevance and
therefore stipends are simultaneously allocated to one or more of the
above clusters as well as one or more of a number of industrial
cooperation projects which have been and will be defined within the
nearest future.
CISS (http://www.ciss.dk) is a research centre,
which aims to strengthen the knowledge transfer between Aalborg
University and the Danish Industry. CISS has a total budget of DKK 63
mill. over four years.

Qualification requirements:
PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master’s degree.
PhD
stipends normally have a duration of 3 years and it is a prerequisite
for allocation of the stipend that enrolment as a PhD student at the
Doctoral School of the Faculty of Engineering and Science takes place
with reference to completion of a research education according to the
regulations of the Ministerial Order No. 114 of March 8, 2002 about the
PhD degree. According to the Ministerial Order the progress of the PhD
student shall be assessed every six months. It is a prerequisite for
continuation of payment that the previous progress is approved at the
time of the evaluation.

The qualifications of the applicant
will be assessed by an assessment committee. On the basis of the
recommendation of the assessment committee the Dean of the Faculty of
Engineering and Science will make a decision for allocating the stipend.

Appointment
and salary acc. to the Circular of Ministry of Finance of May 4, 2000
about the Agreement for Publicly Employed University Graduates and
circular of April 4, 2003 about minutes for an Agreement for Publicly
Employed University Graduates (AC) about PhD stipends holders.
